I started out as an Accounts Clerk with a local manufacturing company in Hastings. I went on to cover all aspects of accounting, including Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, Credit Control and Financial and Management Accounting. Management Accounting became my speciality as I felt that this was where I could make the biggest difference. I headed up the Management Accounting department of a UK subsidiary of a large American corporation and was fortunate to have a great team of six qualified and part-qualified accountants to support me. I also maintained my position of Financial Controller of the manufacturing plant where I first started out in accountancy - Sometimes it's hard to let go!

After many years in a large organisation, I decided it was time to move on to something new and leave the security of nearly 20 years of service behind - Yes, it was difficult!

I have been a Director / Partner of a bookkeeping business since 2007 and have recently decided to go it alone, I felt that it was time for me to start afresh with a handful of clients that I could manage personally, and, Just The Books was born!
